First of all, hi everyone! Sorry for the long absence. I was actually writing an article last night when all this went down. I’m pausing that article and writing this hopefully to get out tomorrow sometime after a quick edit. I apologize for any typos and I’ll finish the other article soon. —V
What the heck happened?
Before I get into some of the legal and political implications of last night’s events, we need to accurately understand what took place.
Sometime yesterday morning approximately 30 FBI agents entered Mar-a-Lago, the former President’s private residence, to execute a search warrant. The warrant was for the retrieval of unnamed archival documents, which might have included some classified information.
The FBI was on site all day long and it’s being reported that they did a pretty thorough search. This is apparently connected to a grand jury investigation about some mishandling of documents that were delivered to Mar-a-Lago just before the President left office in January of 2021.
The warrant is supposedly not connected to the January 6th investigation, and doesn’t have anything to do with the other various accusations that have been made against Trump over the last couple of years. It’s about documents. At least that’s what we are being told.
Donald Trump was not at Mar-a-Lago when the raid happened. It’s being reported that he was at his home in New York at Trump Tower. It is not known exactly when Trump found out about the raid. He released a statement yesterday evening when the raid was either complete or almost complete.
That’s what we know happened. If new information arrises, then we can adjust as is necessary.
Is this a big deal?
One might be tempted to ask if this is really all that big of a deal. The National Archives wants some documents back. Trump apparently didn’t want to give them back. They filed for a search warrant and took them back. Right?
Well, no. First of all, no ex-President has ever had a search warrant served on him. That is completely unprecedented. Secondly negotiations between ex-Presidents and the National Archives are standard practice. All Presidents have documents they keep, and all Presidents have the ability to declassify documents they want to be declassified… even if they are marked “Top Secret”. That’s one of the advantages of being President.
This looks incredibly political. I know that doesn’t seem like an unbiased take, but it does look that way. The FBI is supposed to be above reproach on stuff like this… but when it comes to Trump, they have been anything but.
The FBI and DOJ’s credibility problem
Over the last few years, the FBI has had more than a few black eyes regarding their credibility and ability to operate in a non-partisan manner. Let me be specific:
They pushed a lie that Donald Trump colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election by connecting it to a report (the Steel Dossier) that they knew was false. (Source)
Peter Strozk and Lisa Page carried on an affair while investigating Trump. They were openly biased and claimed to want to bring him down because they disagreed with him politically and hated him personally. They were also part of the Mueller probe and were in constant communication with the IC. They leaked classified information to the press and committed other crimes until their communications were made public and they were fired after public outcry. They were not charged with any crimes. (Source)
An FBI employee manufactured evidence and presented it to a FISA court to get the ability to tap the phones of candidate Donald Trump. We still have no idea what happened to those intercepted communications. (Source)
The FBI, with direction from DOJ, spied on law abiding American citizens who did nothing more than express their constitutionally guaranteed point of view to school boards. They were labeled “suspected domestic terrorists”. (Source)
The FBI has shown zero interest in investigating who Jefferey Epstein was hanging out with and whether those people had involvement in whatever intel agencies he was working for or took part in any of the human trafficking he was committing. No investigations about that at all. (Source)
That whole Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping thing… (Source)
The FBI doesn’t seem to care that Rep. Eric Swalwell, a sitting member of the Intel Committee was apparently screwing a Chinese spy. Any curiosity about what she might have gotten? Any search warrants on that? No issues at all there? (Source)
The FBI admitted that Hillary Clinton likely broke the law in her own handling of classified material, then refused to investigate further. Clinton’s server had actually been hacked by foreign agents and the classified information was in fact stolen. Then she erased her hard drive and sent the server to the bottom of the ocean or some place. (Source)
They called Hunter Biden’s now confirmed laptop “Russian disinformation” and completely ignored it’s contents… which has been shown to have photos of Hunter committing multiple felonies, possible child porn, and most damningly… communications that imply that the current President was involved in an influence selling scheme and may have personally profited from it. Where’s the FBI on that? No comment. (Source)
The ignored the Larry Nassar accusations… of hundreds of abuse victims. (Source)
The FBI and DOJ has locked January 6th rioters up in solitary confinement for months without charges calling them “terrorists” while completely ignoring BLM rioters and Antifa terrorists who have attacked federal facilities all over the country. Oh yeah… BLM has also killed several dozen people… but nobody cares. (Just google it for a source… This is all over the place)
The DOJ has ignored the human and drug traffickers that are pouring over the border. They just have no comment on that at all. (Source)
They have raided journalists like James O’Keefe of Project Veritas and charged him with no crimes. (Source)
There are a lot of other things, but this is what came to mind with just a quick Google search.
The fact is that many Americans have lost faith in the FBI and the DOJ. It’s not because Americans have all become Q-Anon nutter butters or Alex Jones acolytes… it’s because the FBI and DOJ have behaved in a corrupt manor. It’s because they have not even bothered to try and explain themselves or their actions over the last several years to the American people.
It’s as if they feel like they don’t have to. Well, they are wrong. The FBI is, in fact, answerable to the American people. All parts of our government are.
Now they have raided Trump’s home. Why? Because he has some papers that the National Archives want back? Does anyone actually believe that? If so, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
Come on, Virgil… Don’t go all conspiracy nut
Here’s my comment on that… It is possible that the FBI and DOJ can defend every single one of the bullet points above. It’s incredibly likely that they can defend at least some of them. My issue is that they refuse to do so. They won’t even talk about why they refuse. They just say, “no comment”.
Our criminal justice system is supposed to be public. The 6th Amendment to the Constitution guarantees that. While it’s obvious that investigations should be kept quiet until the evidence is assembled and a decision is made on charges, eventually that information should be disclosed… including any exculpatory evidence. That’s the law. You don’t get to publicly investigate American citizens, leak information about those investigations, make someone look like a criminal, and then just… never do anything. That’s illegal. It’s also civilly actionable, in some circumstances.
What we have seen over the last number of years from the DOJ is the exact opposite of that process of investigate, charge, and show. It has been leak after leak followed by innuendo and conjecture. Then, if and when charges are filed, no real information ever sees the light of day. People are charged with process crimes and negotiate short prison sentences. No actual facts are ever given, just rumor.
Look at the Epstein affair as an example. Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison. Everyone says she deserves to be there. Have we actually ever seen any evidence of anything beyond some ex hooker who keeps showing up on badly made documentaries that ask plenty of good questions but never get around to actually answering any?
Is that too conspiratorial for you? Okay, fine… What about Hunter Biden emailing his business partners about sending foreign money to his uncle and father (Also known as President Biden). How come nobody is explaining that. I mean… we have all seen the emails. They aren’t a rumor. They are publicly available. Has there been a raid on Hunter Biden’s rented mansion? Has the FBI asked the President’s lawyers for a meeting?
The White House doesn’t explain it. The DOJ refuses to comment. Hunter is too busy looking for his pants to say anything. Also… where are those 50 intel officials who signed a letter calling it all “Russian disinformation”? Fricken crickets out of those guys.
Why don’t we ever get answers anymore? Chris Wray, Director of the FBI was testifying before the Senate last week and was asked about an FBI agent who was involved in investigating Trump and had shown clear bias against him. To the FBI’s credit, he was eventually removed from his position. But when asked about it, Wray refused to discuss it. He claimed it was a “personnel matter”.
Pardon me, but what the actual fuck!? You are the Director of the FBI. You can raid en ex-President’s house but you can’t you comment on a personnel matter? Why don’t you have to explain yourself or your organization to the US Senate? Why does everyone just shrug and say “welp, it’s a personnel matter. Oh well…”? It’s as if some HR manager is going to show up and slap their hand for talking about it.
This was a biased FBI agent who was investigating the former President of the United States for felonies. I think it’s probably okay to ignore HR on this one and give us some damn information, Director.
Yet we get nothing but “I can’t talk about that”. That needs to change.
Hook ‘em & book ‘em
Look, here’s where I am on this. This looks like another political hit job on a politician that they hate. If it’s not, it’s time to get to work boys. The American people have exactly zero patience anymore for more innuendo and “walls are closing in” nonsense from the likes of MSNBC.
If Donald Trump committed a crime that you plan to charge him for, and you can convict him in a court of law… arrest his ass. Do it today. He’s sitting in Trump Tower right now probably eating a cheeseburger and saying something awful to someone.
Trump is a private citizen, no different from any of us. It doesn't take a congressional investigation or another impeachment or anything like that. Hook him and book him. Then have a public trial, present your evidence, and let the chips fall where they may.
If the DOJ doesn’t do that, they should no longer be trusted with the power they currently wield. They should face investigations by a GOP controlled congress that demands real accountability. They shouldn’t be able to hide behind “ongoing investigation” and “personnel matter” dodges. They should answer some very hard questions. If they refuse, they should be fired, jailed for contempt, and their funding should be frozen.
The American people are watching this. The left, right, and middle are seemingly in agreement on one point… All the chips are in. The call has been made. Now show your cards. If Trump broke the law, hook him and book him. Otherwise, please start explaining yourselves.
Talk to you all again soon!

If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck…then I can’t comment on this personnel matter. Next question, Senator…
