Things Got Pretty Bad

As we move into this next chapter of American history, I think it’s important to be honest about the fact that things got pretty bad here in the land of the free over the last few years. I am hopeful that we are on the upswing. I believe that history will look at the second half of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 as the low point in our current crisis, at least I hope that’s the case. Let’s take a moment and remind ourselves where we were a year ago.

The summer and fall of 2020 to the beginning of 2021 was a time when COVID officials claimed a person was racist because they found the lab leak theory plausible. That theory seems obvious to many today. The Veep Elect was claiming you shouldn’t take the vaccine because Trump is orange and bad. The assertion that Dr. Anthony Fauci was personally involved in funding gain of function research at the Wuhan lab was such a fringe conspiracy theory, it was censored on all social media platforms (Another vindication. Another reason I’m not on The Facebook et al.)

By early 2021, Donald Trump had lost the plot. He was so incensed by his loss in November and by both of his impeachments, he engaged in a scorched earth policy claiming that he had actually won the election and that Biden’s victory was fraudulent. He rabble roused his base. He demanded total loyalty on this fantasy and spit fiery venom at anyone who didn’t toe the line.

Trump intentionally wrecked the GA senatorial special elections and cost the GOP the Senate. He encouraged a rowdy crowd of rioters to enter the US Capitol and behave like unhinged lunatics. (Many of those people now sit in jails or prison with nary an ounce of support from the man who encouraged them to do what they did, BTW)

At the same time, American cities burned. Portland was the scene of nightly riots, as was Seattle, San Francisco, LA, and other American cities. Governors refused to send in National Guard to put down the riots for fear of looking like they supported Trump. Left wing District Attorneys emptied jails and prisons of criminals sending crime rates skyrocketing to levels not seen since the crack epidemic of the 1980’s. The Veep Elect was personally sending money to bail out rioters and looters. Meanwhile the press called it all “peaceful”.

The President Elect was very obviously diminished and in mental decline and this was and remains a completely taboo subject. Further, there is very real evidence that his son has spent years pedaling his father’s influence around the world for huge personal gain. Again, all discussion of this is verboten in polite society.

Inane university Marxist race theory was being pushed as if it was proven fact and long standing knowledge. Massive corporations moved to satisfy ever smaller circles of radicals with more and more outlandish prostrating and groveling.

Pushing back against this was tantamount to career suicide. Robin DiAngelo was openly shaking down Fortune 500 companies for “consultant” fees. If the company resisted, they would be descended upon by the woke brigade.

And finally cancel culture hit its high water mark. Having burned through Hollywood and demolishing anyone not willing to make idiotic hostage videos, it had turned on normal citizens. Professors, scientists, and regular workers lost their jobs for absolutely nothing.

It was pretty ugly out there. A man would have not been blamed for thinking that our culture and our Republic was close to collapse.

Little Glimmers Of Hope

Having said that, in the spring of this year there were some little glimmers of hope that started showing up. They were easy to miss, but as sure as the sunrise, they were there.

Notably, cable news ratings have collapsed. Trump is pretty much gone (for the moment), except for his occasional rally or press release. Russiagate has been completely disproven, and more and more evidence that it was completely manufactured has managed to find the light of day. This is thanks to independent media like Breaking Points, Joe Rogan, Glenn Greenwald, Kyle Kulinski, and others… (You’ll note that there isn’t a conservative or Trump fan on that list, so don’t go saying that I’m the one in an echo chamber).

With the proliferation of these independent voices and their ability to avoid the Trump / not-Trump binary of media reporting, we have started to get some actual news through to the main stream.

Jon Stewart went on a viral rant about the lab leak theory to a largely liberal audience. Bill Maher smacked his own side repeatedly about their own insanity. People started to ignore the offensive idea that every good part of our culture is a product of secret “white supremacy”.

Masks came off. COVID deaths decreased. Real treatments were developed… e.g. monoclonal antibodies. The riots stopped. Outside of the deepest identitarian bubbles, most people started to recognize that we were destroying ourselves for no reason. That the solution was to stop assuming the worst of those who don’t agree with everything we believe.

It’s Not Over Yet

Obviously the insanity didn’t completely go away. It still hasn’t. The wokes are still in charge, even though they don’t have the pull they did a year ago. Dr. Fauci continues to lie about COVID. We have a new “omicron” scare. LOL. (Seriously?? “omicron”??? Could you give it a scarier name? Why not “virudeathdeceptikill”?)

Political violence is still a threat. Just last week we had armed militias outside a courthouse in Georgia making the explicit threat that if the jury didn’t come back with the “right” verdict they would attack. Thankfully the jury did come back with the correct verdict, so everyone went home for Thanksgiving. It’s sad to celebrate that, but celebrate it I will.

Also, let’s not forget about the terrorist who drove his car into a Christmas parade killing at least half a dozen innocent people, including a child, and injuring dozens for “unknown” reasons.

Crime

That brings me to the next biggest problem we have right now in our cities. Crime.

You can call me whatever kind of name you want, but it is well documented by mainstream sources that George Soros and his organization have engaged in backing further and further left-wing District Attorneys in deep blue areas for years. He gets a lot of bang for his buck that way, because all he has to do is boost his candidate in the Democratic primary and they will win the general election. Democratic primary voters since 2016 have been insanely left wing… so it hasn’t been difficult to place revolutionaries and radicals in those positions.

They have supported efforts to “defund the police” and where that failed, they have simply announced that they would no longer prosecute certain crimes. In San Francisco, Chase Boudin, an open Marxist from a long line of open Marxists, decided that shoplifting should no longer be a crime. He has flat refused to address crimes being committed by the homeless, including violent crimes, drug offenses, or property crimes. He has released untold numbers of people from jails and refused to set bail.

Consequently, San Francisco, once a jewel of American cities is unlivable for everyone but the very wealthy and the very poor. It is covered in human feces and people are shooting heroin on the street… you know, between the rapes. Her once liberal and open culture has been replaced by hordes of insane, drug crazed, walking dead.

Another example is the DA for Milwaukee, John Chisholm. Chisholm is another Soros backed politician who ran on the idea of eliminating bail. A few years ago in an interview with his local paper, Chisholm declared:

"Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who's going to go out and kill somebody?" he reportedly told the Milwaukee Sentinel-Journal in 2007. "You bet. Guaranteed. It's guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach."

My dear reader, that might be the most immoral thing uttered by an American politician since George Wallace spit his immortal words. “Segregation today, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever!”.

The idea that the trusted position of District Attorney should be used for some idiotic social experiment to the detriment of the safety and security of the community that person is charged to protect is flat evil. DA’s in this country are given immense power. They have the ability to take your life. They are given this power with one distinct charge… operate in good faith to enforce the laws that this community has passed and always to protect the law abiding citizen from the criminal. That is their job. No more, no less.

Now we have the terrorist attack in Waukesha. A man with no business being in our society was allowed out to attack and kill innocent American citizens. Perhaps the attacker had a political reason for his attack. Perhaps he was just crazy and angry. Perhaps he was possessed by a goddamn demon… it matters not.

The news is making a big deal out of his $1000 bond. While I agree this is egregious and horrifying, the fact that he was anywhere in society to begin with after so many violent crimes is ludicrous. Why are we playing around with people like this? He has shown time and time again that he will not live by our laws. A healthy society would have locked him up until he was an impotent old man long ago… or simply executed and forgotten him. But no, Chisholm has his agenda, and we live with the consequences.

It’s not just Milwaukee and San Francisco either. Chicago, New York, LA, St. Louis, Detroit, Minneapolis, and countless other American cities are seeing crime waves that have some thinking about extreme action.

In my own city of Atlanta, the north Atlanta neighborhood of Buckhead is in a strong push to break from the city so it can get basic services, like police protection. The movement has real steam… and if successful, would be bad for both Atlanta and Buckhead. But the city of Atlanta and that idiot Mayor… that Bottoms woman… have pushed them to this. The soon to be bankrupt bureaucrats of Atlanta will have no one but themselves to blame if the effort is ultimately successful.

The Good News

It would be easy to read all this and be pretty cynical. We let a momentary lapse in judgement wreck quite a lot. In the name of “kindness” or “fairness” or some kind of “racial justice”, we gave up on civic policies that have worked forever in favor of policies that were disproven 50 years ago.

In the early 1970’s many cities tried the same kinds of leftist policies that people are trying now. They turned formerly nice cities into hellscapes. It took decades to repair the damage. The good news is that we learned, all those years ago, how to reverse this damage and it shouldn’t take decades to fix it this time.

Another bit of good news is that the party of “defund the police” is about to be throughly destroyed next year. The leftist woke mantra of “help everyone except the people who actually contribute to society” is about to get escorted out of the room with such gusto that the Democratic Party might just survive to rebuild. The wokes will be told to sit down, shut up, and eventually… to go away. It won’t be Republicans who tell them that, either… it will be Democrats.

It’s not just the Congress and Senate, either. It is DA’s and city councils. It’s mayors and city managers. It’s police chiefs and sheriffs. We are already seeing it.

The obvious example is the Virginia election, which was an absolute disaster for Democrats. That has rattled them to their core. They lost every statewide election in a state that hasn’t elected a Republican in a decade. It was a state that went twice for Obama, for Hillary Clinton, and for Joe Biden by over 10 points.

However it’s not only Virginia. The New Jersey election saw similar movement in the polls with their Governor just barely finding enough cemetery votes to secure a victory that was supposed to be so assured that no press really spent any time worrying about it, including Fox News. In Long Island, every single left wing candidate, including incumbents, were wiped out. In Rochester NY, it was similar. Seattle elected a Republican as City Attorney. Nobody can remember the last time that happened.

This is going to be a bloodbath, and there is going to be a simple but clear mandate: Talk all you want about equity, diversity, and inclusion… but clean these places up and make them safe or We the People will send you packing.

There will be exceptions, make no mistake about it. There is no sign that California will get its act together. Newsom survived his recall election handily thanks to his opponent being far too conservative for California… well, that and those mail in ballots. San Francisco seems to be happy to let the band play on while the ship goes down… but those will be the exceptions. For the majority of the country, a reckoning is coming and calling everyone “racist” just isn’t going to stop it. You can predict this outcome like you can predict the high tide. It’s coming, and you can’t stop it.

Prediction

I might be the only one left, but I am bullish on America over the next decade. As I have extensively pointed out, we have our problems. They are numerous and not all are easy to solve, but our society is starting to recognize them. A storm is on the horizon. If we can put someone who isn’t Trump in the big chair, there are no limits to what we can accomplish.

I don’t know what is going to happen between now and November of 2024. That is an eternity in politics. But I don’t see anything working out for the Democrats. They will get walloped in 2022. I think that die has already been cast. Then you will slowly begin to see things improve in cities. Those improvements would normally work to benefit the party in the White House over the subsequent two years… but the Dems don’t have anyone to run and take credit.

Mayor Pete is gay. African Americans will not vote for a homo… deal with it. Without blacks, Dems can’t win. Kamala Harris is awful at her job and as popular as a hemorrhoid. I wouldn’t put a buffalo nickel on Joe Biden completing this term as President, much less run again. And if he did he would be destroyed.

So who is going to run? The rest of the Democrats are either too old or too radical for a national general election where the country is moving center right. There just isn’t much of an answer for them.

As for the Republicans, there is DeSantis, Crenshaw, Cruz, and about 20 other names I could mention that would easily win in 2024. As long as it’s not Trump (and I don’t believe it will be), sanity might just have a shot.

If sanity wins, America is set for another golden age. We will put COVID behind us. We will confront China. We will clean out the partisan bureaucratic deep state. We will develop new clean technologies and hopefully invest in nuclear power. We are already out of the endless Middle East conflicts. We have the ability to be energy independent. We can invest in domestic manufacturing and end our dependence on medieval slave states and communist dictatorships hell bent on our destruction. We can clean up our streets at home and open our doors to friendly business abroad.

I, for one, can’t wait!

Non Sequitur
