Haha, you reveal your age whilst not saying your age.
I grew up on Army posts several years after the Army was defacto integrated after it was dejure integrated. The highest honor I achieved at an instant in life was playing basketball with primarily negro young soldiers who would say, "I'll take the white kid."
A goodly number of the "negro" sergeants were married to Southern women who could cook fried chicken in a manner that was inspired by the Holy Ghost and driven by DNA.
Every white woman married to a white sergeant admitted this freely and tried to steal those recipes to no avail -- DNA flaw and who really wants to defy the Holy Ghost, never a smart play.
On friend chicken night, those skillful princesses were as revered as that English girl, Diana, and their chicken -- I think it's the breading -- could have broken the Cold War. There was no hatred, but there was envy and full bellies.
Negroes became black became African American became POC and still the secret of Southern women making the best fried chicken has survived to this day. [Yes, I know that is racist. Forgive me. I actually do go to a place that has black woman cooks and I will get something different if the chefs are white that day. It is also useful if they are a little overweight because one thing I came to learn when I was in the Army is never trust a skinny cook.]
In much the same way, queers became fags became gay became the Sec of Treas and adopted twins with guys named Chastain to universal applause.
The game was acknowledgment, recognition without acceptance, tolerance, acceptance, celebration, followed by envy for having two Mommies or two Daddies.
Bottom line the world moved on and while it is interesting to recall the journey, we are in a better place, and none of this is going to matter in 25 years.
Fair enough. I do show my age... as you show yours.
The point I was making is that this round is different. The first round of "political correctness" if that's what you want to call it, was what lead to the Civil Rights movement. Or perhaps... the abolitionist movement was PC. But those movements were changes for the undeniable good. That's why I don't include them in the greater "PC" category.
The PC movement in the 90's was silly and superficial, but ultimately pretty benign. It might have even been more positive than negative, depending on what we are talking about.
The woke movement is harmful. It has killed a lot of people. And that is why is needs to be rejected. IMHO and with respect.

I do not fear you, but sometimes I scare myself.

I agree slightly more with you than you do with yourself.
